New Year, New Blog Post

Happy New Year! 2018!! How did that happen? I feel like life has been on fast forward lately.  In the last five years we bought a house, got another dog, had not one but two babies that are 20 months apart, have done massive renovations to the house and a partridge and a pear tree! I’ve spent the last couple years adjusting to my new role as mommy and trying to figure it all out.  In the last year, I have been trying to find a balance. I finally feel like I can start getting back to who I am as me and not just as a wife and mother.  I have never really been big on making New Year’s Resolutions…the whole making one and never sticking to it thing… yada, yada, yada. But this year I have some goals in mind for different areas of my life…I didn’t want to make a New Year’s Resolution per se but more of putting intentions out into the universe.  I decided to make a vision board since it includes some of my very favorite things…visual reminders…check, images of things that make me happy…check, corny inspirational quotes…check checkity check!

I went to my guru for all things that are creative….Pinterest.  I searched for different quotes I found inspiring and created a board for my digital vision board.  I then found an app called Canva where you can search for different images and then edit them to write whatever you want on the image.  I love how this allows you to make each image and quote so personal.  These are some of the images I created using the app.IMG_4817

After I had all my images created, I used another app called TurboCollage to make a collage of all my photos.

My hope is that by mindfully setting intentions of what I want the year ahead to look like for me, these intentions will come to fruition.  So here it is…my 2018 Digital Vision Board.

May the year ahead be filled with everything you hope it to be!

Baby #2

We found out in October that we’re expecting baby #2!  This baby is due in June and Collin will be 20 months old when the baby gets here.  IMG_1840

We found out the gender of the baby the day before Christmas Eve and decided to share with our family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

We’re very excited to be adding a little girl to our family!

Gender Reveal Party

It’s a……

Ok so I know I have seriously been neglecting this blog and this post is way late…like 4 months late. I will do better. We have tons of exciting projects going on right now and I promise I will share them all.

So back in May we invited our family over for a gender reveal party. I was 15 weeks pregnant and lucky for me my sister is a soon tech so I was able to get a bunch of sonograms to get a peek at our little one. My sister was able to tell whether Baby B was a he or she at 15 weeks. She did the soon on Wed. and we had to wait until Sat. for the party to find out. It was the slowest 3 days!

My sister called the bakery by our house and ordered a cake with the appropriate color as the filling.

The morning of the party I decorated with pink and blue and made a chart where everyone could write their guesses.

I guessed boy and Steve guessed girl.

Everyone held champagne the color of their guess when we were cutting the cake.

Finally it was cake cutting time! It was so exciting.

BLUE! Baby B is a boy!!! I had a gut feeling for weeks that it was a boy and I was right.

The next day was Mother’s Day and Steve and i were wearing blue for our boy.

A New Addition

I’ve been MIA for the last couple of months and for good reason.  We’re having a BABY!!!! Yup, it’s true.  Baby B will be joining us in October 2014.  We found out we were expecting in February and all of my projects pretty much completely stopped.  I was exhausted…unlike any kind of exhausted I had ever felt before.  I would wake up in the morning and be tired.  I would wake up from a nap and be tired.  I would nap some more and yup…still tired!  And add on top of that nausea.  I had zero energy or motivation for projects around the house.  But now that I’m in the second trimester, I’m feeling much better and can finally start getting things done around here.  We’re super excited for this new life adventure.  He’s a video I made of how we shared the news with out family.

Goodbye 2013…I’m Sad to See You Go

Our first Christmas in our new house was amazing.  We’re finally digging our way out from all the wrapping paper. The Christmas cookies have all been eaten and the gifts have all been given.  We had a great time spending time with family, seeing all the Christmasy sites in NYC, and I even spent a whole day in my PJs, snuggling with the pups, watching a Real Housewives marathon…don’t judge.

Here’s our Christmas week via my iPhone.

I can’t believe another year has passed and a new one is upon us.  2012 was a totally craptastic year for many reasons, but 2013 was quite the opposite.  2013 was filled with amazing goodness. We did a lot of traveling…Las Vegas (where I met Wayne Newton), Belize, New Orleans, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Miami, and Boston.  We bought our first home and we adopted a new pup.

Starting this blog and being in the house has gotten my creative juices flowing again.  I’m loving the never-ending projects I have going on and sharing them with all of you.  I am excited to see what 2014 will bring. Happy New Year to you and yours!

Christmas Decor Home Tour

I love Christmas.  The lights…the baking…the ornaments…the time spent with family…the traditions.  I love it all.  This is the first Christmas in our new house.  We are still not unpacked.  We still don’t have furniture in some of the rooms.  That all doesn’t matter…I still have my trees up and some decorations around the house.  I did manage to make some crafts to put around the house.  Take a look…

This year we have two trees.  A traditional one in the living room and a beach themed tree in our sunroom. The traditional tree is an artificial tree and is decorated with all of our ornaments that we’ve collected over the years, many of them with special meaning,  I usually get an ornament on all of our vacations and for major life events (engagement, wedding, new home, our pups).  I love reminiscing as we unpack all the decorations and hang them on the tree.

I made this initials  ornament from the bottom cut of our Christmas tree.DSC_0664

Our beach themed tree in the sunroom is a real tree, complete with a flamingo tree skirt and starfish tree topper.  On it you will find ornaments from some of our beach vacations, surfing santa, and lots of shells and starfish.

I got this lantern at Home Goods and just filled with some fresh greens, pinecones, and red ornaments.

Since we have a new addition to the family, I wanted to get new matching stockings.  I ordered these from  They had a great cyber Monday sale, so I got 25% off and they arrived very quickly!

I just refinished our coffee table and threw this centerpiece together from things I had around the house and some fresh greens from our yard…so it was totally free…awesome!!

You may remember this dining room centerpiece from Thanksgiving.  I used the same hurricane vase and tree branches from the Gratitude Tree and just replaced the Spanish Moss with cotton balls and decorated the branches with these mini ornaments that I found in CVS.

I love incorporating candy in my holiday decor…it’s super inexpensive, gives a great pop of color, and is a very tasty treat.  I’ve already filled up those apothecary jars for the third time…woops.

Here’s my holiday chalkboard.

I had ordered shelves a few weeks ago and never got around to hanging them.  This past weekend we finally hung them in the dining room and I Chrismafied them.

I used a lot of things I already had in the house.  I made the two wooden signs.  I spray painted the mason jars white and added some fresh evergreens from our yard.

I got this little hand carved angel on a trip to New Mexico.  I love buying from local artists when I can.DSC_0709

I printed this sign and put it in a frame I had in the basement.  I kept with the natural, beachy feel with the starfish.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Thanksgiving Weekend ~ Family, Fun, & A New Addition

It’s been busy over here in the Brennan house…Thanksgiving, projects, housework, trying to get ready for Christmas and this guy….

IMG_4017Meet Murphy…the latest addition to the Brennan family!!  We adopted him on Saturday from Fur Babies Rescue.  He’s a 4 month old pit mix and he’s the sweetest little boy!  We are totally in love with him already!

We spent this Thanksgiving with family and Friday, Steve, Daisy, and I took a trip out east to the wineries.  We specifically joined the wine club at Martha Clara because they are dog friendly and we love taking Daisy on any outings that we can.  It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed some wine and live music.

We tried to take some iphone family selfies…didn’t quite work out. lol

After the wineries we headed over to get our Christmas tree at Shamrock Christmas Tree Farm.

We have a big artificial tree that we always set up in our living room but for the last few years I’ve set up a second tree.  I started doing a beach themed tree and decided to get one that was a bit bigger this year now that we have more room.  I didn’t want it to be too big so we decided on this 4 footer.  She’ll live in our sun room and hopefully I’ll get her decorated tomorrow.

DSC_0724And here’s some more photos of Murphy because he’s just so darn cute!

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!
